Cargoitalia carries 18,700 tonnes Jan-Jun

Italian all-cargo carrier Cargoitalia says trading results for its first six months of the year were positive, building on the strong start made in its first four months of operations.

Operating three scheduled routes (Milan - New York, Chicago and Dubai/Hong Kong), the company completed 173 rotations including charter flights.

Average monthly utilisation was up 60 per cent compared to the airline's first four months of operation for a total of 3,375 block hours and it carried 18,700 tonnes of cargo (January-June).

The strong performance includes the three week period when large parts of European airspace were shut down due to the Icelandic volcano ash cloud.
