Air India to sue for late Dreamliner delivery

India's National Aviation Co, the state-owned parent of Air India, says it will seek US$840 million compensation from planemaker Boeing for delivery delays to the B787 Dreamliner.

The carrier's 27 Dreamliners were supposed to start arriving in September 2008.

In January 2009, National Aviation sought US$710 million compensation and is now increasing that amount, it said.

Air India is also hoping for a government cash infusion to counter trading losses.
