TSA sets 2013 international screening deadline

The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has set 2013 as the target date for screening all cargo inbound to the USA on passenger planes.

Screening cargo on domestic (including trans-shipped) and US outbound international passenger planes became mandatory August 1.

"The TSA continues to increase screening requirements for inbound air cargo and estimates that approximately 62 per cent is currently being screened," a TSA spokesman said.

"We expect 100 per cent can be accomplished by mid-2013.
