Space shortage in Sydney airport area?

Sydney commercial and industrial property company Billicorp has warned freight and logistics firms seeking space in the inner south area near Sydney airport will find it hard, with only "five warehouses between 5,000 - 10,000 square metres currently available in South Sydney".

The area, traditionally favoured by freight and logistics customers, is seeing a shortage of high-clearance modern warehousing as demand has picked up in response to a recovering economy.

"Export and import activity slowed throughout 2009 leading to a reduction in demand for warehouse space, although Sydney's Industrial market has proven to be the most resilient in the market- warehouse rents fell only 3.2 per cent during the downturn," the company claims.
