Staff cuts as Aer Lingus makes winter US exit?

Irish airline Aer Lingus is to suspend loss-making transatlantic flights from Shannon Airport, Ireland for nearly three months next year.

The airline said the New York and Boston routes had had an average operating loss of EUR11 million every winter since 1995.

The suspensions will run from January 5 to March 27 and affect eight flights a week.

The suspension could lead to short time working and unpaid leave for cabin crew and cargo staff during the period.
