Vale David Brooksbank

David Brooksbank passed away 5 April following a long illness.

He was best known for his many years’ service at British Caledonian Airways (BCAL), where he was the well-known and very popular general manager cargo from 1978-1988. Earlier in his BCAL career, he spent five years working in Africa, for which he was awarded an MBE in 1974.

After the acquisition of BCAL by British Airways, Brooksbank went on to become managing director of Scan International Group (1988-91), was appointed general manager cargo at Dan Air (1991-92), senior marketing director EMEA at Airmax Airlines (1992-97) and finally chairman of East-West-Jet from 1997 until his retirement in 2004.

David was a keen follower of cricket, a lover of classical music and he enjoyed playing thae piano. He is survived by wife Judith, daughter Angela and son John, to whom we extend our deepest sympathies.
