Rockford out to beat O'Hare

The US airport Chicago Rockford International wants freighters to use it instead of its better-known neighbour O'Hare.

It says it can save operators between US$10,000-US$15,000 per landing and has proven - with test-flight user Atlas Air - that it can unload a 747 with 100 tons on board in less than 90 minutes.

Its goal is to get more international cargo airlines using its 72,000-square-foot cargo facility.
