Expeditors' tonnage up 40pc

Washington, USA-based logistics firm Expeditors says airfreight tonnage in the first three months of 2010 rose 40 per cent over the same period last year, and April tonnage alone rose 49 per cent.

It added that ocean volumes rose about 14 per cent through the first quarter of 2010, and another 18 per cent in April compared with April 2009.

Expeditors also said it is continuing to struggle to meet customer demand because of ongoing restricted capacity.
