Radiation affects Japan exports, trans-shipments

As the earthquake and tsunami dead and missing count exceeded 21,500 on Tuesday (with some overlap of figures because of difficulty identifying some victims), air cargo coming from or passing through Japan now faces delays at destination ports after radiation was detected in a number of shipments.
Meanwhile, Tuesday night Australian EST time, radiation from the Fukushima plant reportedly was increasing and the government said "it did not know why" one of the reactors was issuing smoke.

Electric cables have now been connected to all reactors at the plant, but water pumps will not be tested until an on-site inspection of each of the pumping stations and other facilities.

Electricity blackouts continue Japan-wide in the meantime.
