Japanese airports watching fuel stocks

Japan's airports have about 10 days before they run out of avgas, after infrastructure was damaged in the recent earthquake. The International Air Transport Association says it has briefed carriers on appropriate action depending on routing.

Airlines are being encouraged to carry enough fuel for at least part of the return journey from Japan and IATA also has briefed carriers on rationing procedures if reserves fall to critical levels.
