Emirates adds Manchester services

Middle East airline Emirates is joining rivals Qatar Airways and Etihad and adding capacity at the north English city of Manchester. Emirates, the largest international carrier from the region, is to add a third daily flight to Dubai starting May 1 because its Airbus A380s are 'consistently full'.

Qatar and Etihad earlier said their routes from Abu Dhabi and Doha to Manchester will go double daily from August 1 and June 1 respectively.

British Airways, meanwhile, is keeping its emphasis on shuttles to and from London Heathrow to Manchester, having scrapped long-haul flights from the city in 2008.

The UK carrier says it has no plans to revise its model.
