RECORD RESULT FOR LH CARGO CHARTERS

Lufthansa Cargo Charter Agency achieved a record result for the 2005 financial year. With a gross income of 86 million Euros, the charter broker was able to increase its business volume by a whopping 51 per cent compared to the previous year.

A spokesperson for the company attributed the improved performance as a result of attractive and effective add-on capacity solutions during the high season.

While the business volume with the parent company, Lufthansa Cargo AG, decreased further, the charter subsidiary was able to double the business with its primary customers.

“Key factor for this success were the approximately 100 flights the company could accomplish for its customers in the Asian market during the peak season, routed to Europe and the USA,” said the spokesperson.

“Of substantial importance was the transport of game consoles from Hong Kong to the USA and Europe. On the way to Hong Kong many of the European flights could be used to serve various destinations en-route.

“The company also made greater use of its heavy load and special purpose charters with a considerably higher number of AN 124 large freighters flights and organised a large number of transports into 2005’s crisis regions.”
