PATRICK WINS UNITED AIRLINES CONTRACT EXTENSION

Patrick Air Services, still puzzled at the shock loss of Thai International handling to rival CTO Menzies Aviation, was all smiles again pleased today with the confirmation that United Airlines (UA) had extended its contract for ramp handling to include passenger and cargo handling in Melbourne and Sydney effective 01 May. "This compliments the work we already do for Singapore Airlines (SQ) on the passenger and ramp side," said Nigel Blow, commercial and marketing manager for Patrick Air Services.

"We commenced ramp operations for UA in February and this extension of the contract is fantastic news for us."

The loss of Thai International handling is understood to have baffled Patrick management and industry observers alike as the relationship was regarded as strong and successful.

Mr Blow declined to comment on the Thai move other than to say he was sorry to see the carrier move on.
