NEW BRISBANE DISTRIBUTION CENTRE FOR FEDEX

FedEx Express is building a new purpose-built facility located at Brisbane Airport, Queensland. When completed later this year it will be over double the size of the current facility in Herston.

“This new facility has been designed specifically for our operations in Queensland, providing the infrastructure to allow us to easily receive and send shipments, work with the various government agencies to facilitate customs clearance, and get the packages onto a van and out to the customer as soon as possible,” said David Ross, vice president for FedEx Express South Pacific.

Koen Rooijmans, Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) managing director and chief executive officer said Brisbane Airport offered a significant strategic advantage for FedEx, and the new facility is a testament to the ability for both Queensland and the BAC to attract new investment to the state.

“FedEx will benefit from investments of up to $1.5 billion over the next 7 years, to ensure BAC continues to deliver the world’s best airports, and deliver outstanding airport services,” said Rooijmans

The facility’s proximity to the Gateway motorway will also give the company faster access to Brisbane’s central business district and surrounding areas, including the key manufacturing centers, providing a guaranteed delivery and cut-off time commitment.
