Air NZ posts lower profit, points to oil prices for 47 per cent drop

Escalating fuel costs resulted in Air New Zealand posting a net profit of $96 million for the year ending 30 June 2006,  47 per cent down on the previous year. “We clearly acknowledge this is not the result we would have liked to have achieved at the end of the financial year,” said John Palmer, chairman of the board. “But given the extraordinarily challenging business environment the airline is operating in, this is a respectable result.”

AirBridge lays US groundwork for its ‘07 freighter services

Russia’s AirBridge Cargo has signed an interline agreement with Continental Airlines and, in a separate move, appointed GSA partners in key cities across the United States to begin growing its presence in America ahead of the anticipated launch of its own B747 freighter services in 2007.
