AUSTRALIA’s International Air Services Commission has reviewed a large number of applications to renew route capacity allocations, many of them involving Qantas.  And it has made a draft decision on code sharing by Qantas with Air Nuigini on services to Port Moresby.

IATA amends carrier’s liabilities under Conditions of Contract

IATA has approved and declared effective amendments to the carrier’s liabilities under the Conditions of Contract (Cargo Services Conference Resolution 600b). Resolution 600b is the abbreviated and modernised “Conditions of Contract” that invokes both Warsaw Convention and Montreal Convention.

IATA has applied for a three month extension to finalise its response to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in regard to the current authorisation (immunity) for the operation of the Australian Cargo Agency Program.

Kiwi cargo up in value, down in weight

THE WEIGHT of air-freighted export cargo from New Zealand fell by 2.3 per cent in the year ended June 2007.  But Statistics New Zealand notes in its annual report on cargo data that the value of this cargo traffic grew by almost five per cent.

New Asia cargo option

LUFTHANSA and Deutsche Post are to launch a cargo carrier focused on airfreight and express shipments in and out of Asia. The airline will be jointly owned by Lufthansa Cargo and Post’s DHL Express parcel delivery division and will operate 11 Boeing 777-200LRF aircraft. Flights will begin in April 2009.
