United Airlines wins Beijing flight rights

United Airlines has won U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) approval for new non-stop flights between Washington and Beijing. Other carriers vying for the route included American, Continental and Northwest Airlines. United is expected to begin services - using a three-class 347-seat B747-400 - within 90 days. The new service will operate as a US Airways code-share flight.

AirAsia expands fleet with A320 firm order

BA World Cargo adds Tbilisi to Far East freighter schedule

BA World Cargo has announced the addition of Tbilisi, Georgia to its existing London - Cologne - Shanghai 747-400 freighter service.  The new weekly Monday routing (London-Cologne-Tbilisi-Shanghai) launches with Coyne Airways as the major customer. The carrier anticipates adding around 60-80 tonnes of cargo per flight under this new agreement.
