Thailand's Transport Ministry is to cut the maximum fare for inter-provincial bus services by 20 per cent so bus operators will be better able to compete against low cost airlines.
Deputy permanent secretary for Transport Darun Saengchai said the bus fares committee had decided to lower ceiling fares by 20 per cent for bus services operated between Bangkok and other provinces and between two provinces by the state-owned Transport Company and its concessionaries or private pool bus operators.
