Reports say the Solomon Islands government has fired Solomon Airlines ceo Ron Sumsum and is looking for a replacement.
The state-owned airline shut down its operations on Tuesday, June 7, grounding all its planes and suspending ground services for about a day.
Sumsum had claimed the action was due to the the government's failure to pay millions of dollars in arrears, a claim denied by the the Ministry of Finance and Treasury, which said the government had met all its financial commitments to the airline and had written off many bad debts and injected capital over the years.
