Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) says after investigating an Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association (ALAEA) claim that Regional Express Airlines (REX) had a poor safety culture, it has no current issues with the safety of Regional Express Airlines (REX) aircraft.
ALEA had sent CASA a letter citing eight examples that "we consider to be serious non-compliance which involves several former and current employees over several years".
Last week, CASA conducted a two-day audit of the REX Wagga maintenance facility as part of a safety assurance review, with random maintenance engineering staff interviewed.
The staff said they felt confident in reporting maintenance errors or defects and that REX operated safely.
CASA corporate communications manager Peter Gibson called the Wagga site visit an "intensive process".
It normally takes up to 21 days to finalise an audit report of this kind, but CASA prioritised the REX paperwork.
