Most methane emissions 'come from burning fossil fuels' - study

Emissions of greenhouse gas methane caused by the fossil fuel industry are up to 40 per cent higher than previously assumed, a study by researchers from the University of Rochester in New York claims.
It said the bulk of methane in the atmosphere comes from burning fossil fuels.
