Mt Agung disrupts Bali services

Flights to Bali and the nearby Indonesian island of Lombok have been cancelled and Bali’s airport closed for 24 hours, after which flying conditions will be reviewed.
Jetstar, Qantas, Garuda Indonesia, AirAsia and Virgin Australia are the main carriers affected.
 
The situation has stranded thousands of passengers, with airlines telling intending passengers to check their airlines' web sites for updates.
 
A Mt Agung eruption in 1963 killed more than 1100 people and lasted longer than a year.
