No DSA this year?

Funding pressures are believed to have forced the cancellation of Destination South Australia (DSA) this year.

The popular annual mart, usually held in August, will next take place in March 2015.

Local suppliers are disappointed by the decision and have urged organiser Adelaide Convention Bureau to re-think the move.

One supplier who asked not to be named said the decision came as a shock to many and will have consequences well beyond just postponing the event. The supplier said many tourism businesses will have spent their funds by March and the new date also will be very close to AIME (February), which many South Australian tourism businesses participate in.

DSA has been very successful since its inception. The focus is on presenting South Australia's product and services for the business tourism, meetings and incentives sector to a qualified group of invited buyers from domestic and international markets.

Calls to the Adelaide Convention Bureau had not been returned by the time of posting.
