Dubai-based Emirates Airline says its profit for the six months through September almost tripled to 752 million dirhams (US$204.9 million) from 284 million dirhams (US$77.4 million) during the same period in 2008 thanks to cost-cutting and lower fuel prices.

BA strike ballot result before Xmas

UK carrier British Airways is “extremely disappointed” that the results of a cabin crew strike ballot will be announced mid-December, indicating a possible Xmas stoppage.
Australia’s Sydney Airport Authority has called on the state government to improve public bus access and also is lobbying for a reduction in the rail fare between the city and airport. The authority says only one bus service stops at all three passenger terminals, a poor figure when compared to overseas airports.
