US Airways posts US$279m Q2 profit

USA carrier US Airways has joined rivals Delta and United in posting a large second-quarter profit.

It said an increase in business travellers helped it earn US$279 million.

Revenue rose more than 19 per cent to US$3.17 billion.

Chairman and ceo Doug Parker said it had cut capacity, reined in costs and added ancillary fees.
