Air India sells five 777s

India's Air India is to sell five wide-body Boeing 777 aircraft to Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways.

The 777-200 LR planes are an average six years old and are likely to be handed over to Etihad by March.

"The Boeing 777-200 LR gives us extra reach, allowing us to start direct services to Los Angeles, as well as increasing our flying to South America," said James Hogan, Etihad's president and ceo.
