Brunei tightens sex laws

Brunei has imposed new criminal codes based on Islamic law, with harsh penalties for homosexuality and adultery, including death by stoning.

As a result, organisers have cancelled several events planned for the Brunei-managed Beverly Hills Hotel in the USA.

The Motion Picture and Television Fund, which runs the star-studded Night Before the Oscars, says it will not hold its charity event at the hotel in 2015.

The Dorchester Collection, the luxury hotel group owned by an arm of the Brunei government, also has hotels in Europe.
