Two new carriers for Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia could see two new carriers this year. Saudi Arabia currently is only served by the state-owned Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) - and until a loosening of regulations last year, foreign airlines were only allowed to fly in and out of the country, not within it.

Now, the locally-owned Saudi Gulf Airlines will target the premium domestic segment and Qatar Airways subsidiary al-Maha Airways (still to be granted permission to fly from Saudi regulators) marketing to regional destinations and also feeding Qatar’s Doha hub.
