Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has launched the next stage of its successful Thailand CONNECT The World program aimed at boosting MICE traffic into Thailand and strengthening the country’s business events platform for further growth.

The latest phase features a further welcome package, wider application of the initial package, strengthening of the Team Thailand partnership concept and continuation of the MICE United II marketing campaign.

Several of the partners have committed to increased involvement, including Thai Airways International, Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association.

The Ratchaprasong association is very happy with the results to date of its partnership which fits comfortably into its strategy of presenting Ratchaprasong as a premier retail, hospitality and entertainment precinct which can be credibly counted in the world’s Top 10.

This is aimed at Thai residents as well as international visitors.  The compact district has a daily traffic of around 350,000 people, the majority of them spending significantly.

“Last year the campaign shaped Ratchaprasong to be a key destination for MICE visitors from every corner of the world and we are certain that the number of MICE travellers is likely to surge this year,” said Chai Srivikorn, the association’s president.

“We are going to vivify the entire district with a wide variety of promotion including vouchers for upscale restaurants, a walking tour to spiritual attractions in the area and room packages with inclusive services like free wi-fi, laundry and dry cleaning services and fitness centre.”

The association is also opening a Ratchaprasong Tourist Information Centre on the second floor of the Amarin Plaza.

Another key Bangkok precinct has joined the program.  Bangkok River Partners encompasses eight hotels – with another on the way – and a wealth of visitor attractions to complement its meetings facilities and some 4200 guest rooms.

Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya said that while TCEB was lead agency in the partnership TAT was delighted to be actively involved and would be working even closer with TCEB and other partners.

“Our ‘2015 Discover Thainess’ campaign, designed to highlight everything that makes Thailand unique as a country, culture and people, is perfectly suited to enhance our competitive advantage in attracting conferences and events.”

The latest phase of Thailand CONNECT The World also sees further destinations being highlighted for their MICE infrastructure and appeal.  Among these is Khao Yai, an emerging business events locale and home to a UNESCO world heritage site as well as the country’s third largest national park.

Nopparat Maythaveekulchai, TCEB’s president said the organisation was committed to marketing the five key MICE cities – Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Khon Kaen – but also broadening venue opportunities elsewhere.

“The introduction of new business events destinations such as Khao Yai will be a building block of Thai business events’ success.”
