Bali PADI to support woman’s dive day

To recognise and celebrate women in diving, Bali, Indonesia’s PADI will be supporting PADI Dive Centres and Resorts in the PADI Woman’s Dive Day to take place worldwide 18 July 2015.

The event will acknowledge women divers and the contributions made by women as well as encourage more women to take part in diving.

Bali-based Aqua Marine Diving is offering 20 per cent discounts on all published day trips including Discover Scuba Diving/Intro Diving, for female divers booked between 17 – 19 July 2015. In addition, as this is a day to celebrate women, AMD will donate 10 per cent of the published price for each day trip to www.BaliWISE.org

BaliWISE aims to break the poverty cycle for disadvantaged and at-risk women by providing free, structured study programs in English and Indonesian literacy; basic life skills and hospitality and business skills to help increase women’s ability to access secure work. The organisation also seeks to educate and train women and girls from deprived areas in local communities with the skills they need to make informed life choices. This includes vocational skills that can generate sustainable income and at the same time minimise environmental harm and promote restoration.

Providing a better education for women and girls will contribute to women’s empowerment and poverty reduction, it says.

Every year AMD-Bali runs an 11-month ‘Zero-to-Hero’ internship to train young Indonesians up to PADI divemaster rank. Over the past couple of years, 40 per cent of successful interns have been female. Offer is subject to conditions.
