The Turnberry golf complex in south west Scotland has been sold to American entrepreneur Donald Trump in a cut-price GBP35.7 million cash deal.
Trump convinced Leisurecorp, a subsidiary of the Dubai government, to sell him the South Ayrshire coastal complex, which has three golf courses, a lighthouse, a golf academy, one of the country's most striking five-star hotels, plus lodge and cottage accommodation - and which is guaranteed to stage its fifth Open in the next eight years.
Leisurecorp paid GBP52 million for the resort in 2008 and then spent about GBP40 million renovating it.
