Some 83 passengers aboard Princess Cruises’ 3,080 passenger Crown Princess have fallen sick while on a US west coast cruise of California.
Officials are investigating what is believed to be novovirus outbreak, which causes diarrhoea and vomiting and can spread rapidly in contained, highly-traffic areas. Cruise ships have been highly susceptible in the past.
In January this year, the US Centre for Disease Control reported in excess of 600 cases of norovirus on cruise ships in the Caribbean.
