Domodedovo’s PRM program ‘a winner’

Investments made by Moscow Domodedovo Airport to improve services for passengers with reduced mobility (PRM) have resulted in a traffic surge.

Some 36,700 passengers with reduced mobility used the services of Domodedovo airport last year, a 27.4 per cent increase on 2011.
The number of mobility-impaired passengers who applied for special services has tripled during the last five years — from 11,800 to 36,700 in 2012.

Care of airport passengers has been a high priority for the airport. A professional team - Physically Challenged Passenger Service - established in 2003, now has more than 50 employees who work to provide the most comfortable and quick services on check-in, customs and immigration control, plus baggage check-in.

The services may be ordered while purchasing the ticket or at any check-in counter, information stand or medical service office of the passenger terminal. The airport provides the services free of charge.

For passengers with reduced mobility and their accompanying people who arrive on their own cars, Domodedovo also provides 578 parking places (10 per cent of the total parking capacity). Passengers also can apply for parking service assistance by phone.
