Qatar Air to place A380 on Melbourne run from June

Qatar Airways will introduce its A380 aircraft on the Melbourne-Doha route from 30 June 2017. This will increase Qatar Airways’ daily capacity by 44 per cent on the route, connecting passengers to more than 150 destinations globally.

Simon Gandy, Melbourne Airport’s chief of Aviation, said this will be the seventh daily A380 operating services from Melbourne airport, to one of six long haul destinations serviced by the aircraft.

“For several years, growth in international passenger numbers through Melbourne Airport has outstripped that of other Australian airports, and our modelling tells us that this extraordinary growth will continue.”
