Prague Congress Centre diversifies with architectural competition

The Prague Congress Centre is running an architectural design competition as an extension to its usual MICE market positioning.

The international competition invites architects, urbanists and other experts to propose new uses for public spaces around the Centre.

"From an financial point of view, conventions are very important for the city, but currently, the Congress Centre is not running at capacity and that represents a loss for the whole city of Prague. I am convinced that the architectural competition for new exhibition spaces will help make the Congress Centre a competitor to Vienna, Berlin or Munich,” said the mayor of Prague.

The competition consists of two rounds – the deadline for the proposal in the first round is 17 March 2017. It will be completely anonymous and announced both in Czech and in English.

It is assumed that six proposals will go through to the second round, which will close on 30 June 2017.
The three best proposals will be awarded.

First prize will be CZK1,000,000 (about A$52,400), with CZK2,000,000 divided among the runners up.
