Travelport first GDS with dual IATA status

Travelport has edged out competitors to become the first GDS provider to be granted both ‘Aggregator Level One’ and ‘IT provider Level Two’ status by IATA.

This means the travel technology provider 'can deliver' if an airline customer chooses to use NDC-XML messaging to distribute and deliver fares and products.

Travelport said this gives agencies and TMCs enhanced content and greater access to ancillary offers when shopping for and booking flights via its Travel Commerce Platform.

In addition, Travelport-connected agents will be able to make ancillary sales after the original flight booking using their preferred agency work flows.

Travelport has also achieved NDC-capable ‘IT Provider’ Level Two status, making it only the second organisation - and the first GDS - to be designated NDC Certified and NDC Capable by IATA.  This further expands its NDC capabilities and means it also has the option to distribute IATA NDC offers for fares and prices on behalf of the airlines electing to use IATA’s industry standards.
