2017 ITE HK/MICE set multiple attendance records

Post conference analysis shows ITE Hong Kong/MICE held earlier this month at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre set new records in exhibitor, trade and public visitors.
It also attracted more exhibiting destinations, with more repeat major official expanding from 50 per cent to almost tripling in scale. 
Officiating its opening this year was Gregory So Kam-leung,  secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the government of Hong Kong.  
 
Held annually, ITE Hong Kong is organised by TKS Exhibition Services and supported by the China National Tourism Administration, Hong Kong Tourism Board, Macau Government Tourism Office, other tourism bureau and trade associations from travel and MICE companies in the region. 
 
This year, the two trade days attracted 12,312 visitors, up 1.9 per cent. By sectors, 81.6 per cent of them came from tourism and 18.4 per cent from MICE and corporations. Geographically, 71.8 per cent came from Hong Kong, 18.7 per cent from mainland China and 9.5 per cent from other parts of Asia. 
 
Attending the two public days this year were 89,750 visitors, up 2.2 per cent
 
This year, ITE Hong Kong attracted 645 exhibitors, up 6.8 per cent.  Among the 56 exhibiting countries and regions, 14 were new and overall half were from outside Asia. 
 
New destinations this year, including official pavilion and individual exhibitors, were Argentina and Peru, Barcelona, Vienna, St Petersburg from Europe; Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Kenya, Namibia from Africa and the Middle East; Pakistan from South Asia and the islands of Maldives, Palau and the Philippines. 
 
South Korea more than doubled its presence to over 40 booths including the independents, Taiwan almost doubled to some 50 booths including the independents, Guam and Penang doubled while Indonesia grew by over 60 per cent. 
 
Though with only smaller growth, mainland China at over 90 booths including the independents remained the largest this year, while Japan, which has grown from 20 plus booths in 2011 to currently over 80 booths, remained the second largest. 
 
This year, some 200 exhibitors comprising mainly DMC / agents, tourism boards and hotels / venues, target MICE and corporate buyers and visitors who totalled over 2200.  Dubbed the MICE Day, several MICE seminars were held in the second trade day, one of which covered the new hot topic of Corporate Volunteerism. Reflecting visitors’ strong interest planning for holiday, a highlight of ITE’s public days is its some 90 seminars held in five purpose-built rooms inside the exhibition halls. 
 
The next ITE & MICE will be held 14-17 June 2018 at Halls 1A to 1E of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.
