Australia adds to future biz wins total - but losses cause concern

Australia has won 396 international business events in future business from July 2107, a three per cent increase from January 2017, according  to the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux (AACB) latest Forward Calendar of International Business Events report.
On the other side of the ledger, Australia lost 316 business events, down seven per cent from the report in January 2017.

Andrew Hiebl, chief executive of AACB said the number of business events lost remains a concern.

“In parallel to the forward calendar of events secured, we’ve lost 316 future events with the potential for 267,500 international delegates to be attracted to our shores,” said Hiebl. "This lost business equates to more than one billion dollars in direct delegate spend which will now take place in competing countries."
