Markland Blaiklock has been appointed senior vice president Sofitel Asia Pacific replacing Thomas Van Vliet.
A French Canadian national educated in the Canada, United Kingdom and Paris, he has held key positions with top hotel brands such as Shangri-la, Raffles, The Peninsula, Le Meridien and Hilton.
Immediately prior to joining Sofitel, Blaiklock was chief executive of Grande Asset Hotels and Property responsible for the operations and strategic development of several major luxury hotels – including several under the Sheraton, Westin and Meridien brands - developed in Asia.
In his new role Blaiklock will oversee all hotel operations, financial strategies and sales and marketing for the luxury brand and its hotels within the Asia Pacific region.
Sofitel Luxury Hotels has also appointed Michel Molliet to the position of vice president Sofitel Greater China.
Molliet has been based in the People’s Republic of China since 2004, departing his role as area manager and general manager of Accor’s Sofitel Reef Casino Cairns to represent Accor Asia as general manager of Renmin Square Hotels in Xian.
Immediately prior to his new appointment Molliet was vice president of hotel operations for the Venetian Resort Hotel in Macau and the Las Vegas Sands Corporation.
