Melbourne has secured one of the world’s major global conferences on biochemistry and molecular biology. The International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) conference is expected to bring 1600 biochemists and molecular biologists to Australia from members based in 66 countries. IUBMB will be held at the new Melbourne Convention Centre (scheduled to open in 2009) from 25 September to 1 October, 2010.

SAMOA REPORTS INCREASE IN TOURISM ARRIVALS

The launch of Polynesian Blue Airlines Samoa services has resulted in strong tourism growth to the region according to new data. Tourism in Samoa grew by 14.5 per cent for January-May 2006 compared to an average of just 3.9 per cent per year for the past ten years according to figures from the National Department of Statistics in Samoa.
