Dubai International Airport was one only a handful to post gains in 2009 with 9.2 per cent passenger growth to a record 40.9 million passengers, according to Dubai Airports.

American Airlines and oneworld Alliance partners Qantas Airways, British Airways and Cathay Pacific have promised US$2 billion in commercial benefits to Japan Airlines (JAL) over three years.
Irish carrier Aer Lingus and its 470 pilots are close to agreeing terms for a EUR30 million operating cost reduction by the carrier - by shedding 50 of its top captains and imposing pay cuts of 10 per cent on the others.
USA aircraft leasing company Guggenheim Aviation Partners reportedly has cancelled its order for two new B747-8 freighter aircraft. It still has two 747-8Fs on order from Boeing.

Australia's Qantas reportedly is studying claims that Vietnamese budget carrier Jetstar Pacific violated safety rules.
A UK High Court judge has ruled that E-Clear, the credit card processing firm linked to the collapse of local travel firm Globespan -including carrier division Flyglobespan - must report on how much money it holds on the airline's account by the end of this week.
