RFNSW pitches for toll relief

Australia’s Road Freight NSW (RFNSW) has appeared before the first hearing of the government Upper House Inquiry into Road Tolling Regimes, appealing for fairer tolling of truck drivers who, it says, will play a central role in the road to recovery for the NSW economy.  During Covid-19, drivers helped keep shelves stocked and essential services operating.

UK government visa offer 'too little' to fix HGV driver shortage

The UK government’s plan to issue temporary visas to five thousand EU-based heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers and to fast-track driver training for 4,000 Brits is far too little to resolve Britain’s supply-chain crisis and is unlikely to attract the needed drivers, haulage chiefs say.

Doha-based Qatar Airways Cargo has reported a 4.6 per cent increase in cargo volumes in the fiscal year ending March 31, handling 2,727,986 tonnes including on more than 1,100 charters that carried more than 53,000 tonnes of aid, medical supplies, food, live animals and 'other cargo'.
