The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) is to investigate the airfreight costs being charged by foreign airlines for perishables exports.
The All Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters, Importers and Merchants Association (PFVA) and others say foreign carriers charge more on perishable commodities, especially mango shipments to Europe, the Middle East and the United States.

As well as alleged overcharging, the group said there are serious and unjustified conditions imposed by airlines, plus an indemnity bond is required from exporters before the start of the mango season. The bond means exporters cannot submit a claim in the case of any mishandling, damage or loss of shipments, they claim.
