Automobile parts supplier Delphi is acquiring autonomous car startup nuTonomy for US$450 million and will absorb more than 100 nuTonomy employees into its own 100-plus team dedicated to autonomous technology.

The two companies also both are working on self-driving cars in Boston and Singapore and will combine the initiatives.
Delphi said that the acquisition will mean it is testing 60 autonomous cars across three continents.
Delphi earlier partnered with Intel-owned MobilEye to build a self-driving system and also has deals in place with ride-hailing companies Lyft and Grab, as well as Groupe PSA, which owns European auto brands Peugeot and Citroen.
