Net income at Air China hit CNY5.2 billion while China Eastern said profit surged more than 130-fold to CNY3.15 billion.
Chinese airlines have said part of the gain comes from better international exchange rates, which cut the costs of servicing their debts withplanemakers including Boeing and Airbus.
