Vietnam on course for reopening despite Omicron

Vietnam is reporting close to 100,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19 per day, as the highly transmissible Omicron variant drives a nationally unprecedented outbreak, with its total of confirmed Covid-19 cases at more than 3.3 million, the fourth highest in southeast Asia.

Despite that, the country plans to reopen international tourism borders and lift all Covid travel restrictions on  March 15 for tourists who are fully vaccinated and can produce negative Covid tests taken before departure and upon arrival.

Each visitor also will need Covid-19 insurance cover worth at least US$10,000.
