Narendra Kumar, QantasLink exective manager, said the carrier will invest A$30 million operating its new 74-seat Q400 aircraft on the route, offering 12 return flights and 1776 seats each week.
“QantasLink’s expansion into Papua New Guinea heralds the first arrival of a Qantas aircraft into the market since 2002. This expansion has been made possible by an investment of over $600 million since 2006 in a new fleet of 21 Q400 aircraft,” said Kumar.
Fares on the new services start from A$349 Cairns-Port Moresby return; and A$649 Sydney-Port Moresby return.
