ABEE out, Inspire EX in as business events industry changes hit home

2014 looks like being a significant year of change in the business tourism events sector.

Several business travel-orientated shows now have either been cancelled or postponed and rescheduled. (see elsewhere in this issue), with the latest ‘evolution’ (the show organiser’s term)the popular Australian Business Events Expo (ABEE) and Event Showcase, both held in Sydney.

Now called Inspire EX, the show will move from Darling Harbour to the upgraded convention centre at Glebe Island in 2014.

Inspire EX event director Pascal Ibrahim said the events industry has changed and the trade show that represents it should respond.

“We have taken the greatest elements of the well-known Australian Business Events Expo (ABEE) and Sydney’s Event Showcase – the seminars, the diversity of exhibitors and networking events - and combined them with what the industry really needs - a quality hosted buyer program, interactive zones and unique experiences under a new brand, Inspire EX,” said Ibrahim.

“The changes that event industry professionals face every day have driven developments in how the industry meets, shares, learns and does business.

“Inspire EX is designed with the qualified and experienced event buyer at its heart. The floor plan encourages all zones to be experienced, the interactive features entice for longer visits and the seminars all are ‘must-attend’ sessions.”

Ibrahim said events need to demonstrate return on investment (ROI) more than ever before.

The two day event will be held on 18 and 19 August 2014 at the Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island.
