State of Mexico releases new brand

Mexico’s State of Mexico (or Edomex, from Estado de México) has used the IMEX America travel mart forum to launch its new convention brand — “The State of Mexico  - a Destination for Meetings that change Mexico and the World”.

Its Ministry of Tourism has a promotion and development strategy focused on four specific locations: Toluca, Valle de Bravo, Ixtapan de le Sal and Teotihuacan. The development of these destinations is meant to complement one another and provide greater competitiveness.

At IMEX, the Ministry also released data obtained through its Meeting Industry Economic Impact Study in 2013. The study showed that some 4,488 meetings were held with corporate events at 40 per cent of total, 28 per cent being trade shows and exhibitions, 16 per cent congress and conventions, nine per cent seminars and incentive events occupying seven per cent of the total.

The State's infrastructure includes 14 industrial or technological parks that are equipped with training centres, sports facilities, halls as venues for business meetings and special events.
