Fraport Greece promises 20,000 jobs

The Fraport-Copelouzos consortium that is taking over 14 regional airports in Greece has promised it will create 20,000 jobs.

The German-Greek investment deal is part of a series of privatisations in Greece.

Fraport Greece is a holding company controlling the two firms that each control seven regional airports and will be running the airports for 40 years. The consortium intends to invest EUR330 million by 2020 and projected that it will provide as many as 20,000 job positions when the company is fully operational. Already, it is in contact with airlines and tour operators interested in bringing more visitors to Greece.

To make that growth possible, 14 terminals will need to be upgraded.
